Abstract:

A novel method of simultaneous determination of semivolatile organic compounds (SVOCs) with 1-butyl-3-methyl imidazolium Ins (trifluoromethanesulfonyl) imides (BMIM] [NTF2] the enrichment by automatic thermal desorber-gas chromatography/mass spectrometry was described. The [BMIM] [NTF2] and Chromosorb 102 were mixed and the mass ratio was 15%. The samples were collected in an active sampling tube at a flow rate of 1 Umin for 90 min. Two-stage desorption mode was adopted when the samples were analyzed. The sorbent tubes were desorbed at 280 degrees C and 50 mL He/min for 15 min. The vapors from the primary desorption were collectedat 0 degrees C in the cold trap without sorbent. The cold trap was flash heated to 280 C at 40 degrees C/s(temperature of 225 degrees C for the valve, no inlet split or outlet split) and the vapors were transferred via the heated transfer line (280 C) to the GC. The GC temperature program was 100 degrees C (held for 1 min) then increased at 10 degrees C/min to 200 degrees C and finally increased at 6 degrees C/min to 250 degrees C (held for 10min). The method of detection limits were from 0. 001 to 0. 014 ng. The recoveries of standard additions were in the range of 97. 1% to 113. 8% and the relative standard deviation (RSD) was between 3. 3% and 9. 9%. Practical indoor air samples which were collected from ten offices in Beijing were analyzed. Four kinds of pollutants were mainly detected including dibutyl phthalate (DMP), diethyl phthalate (DEP), dimethyl phthalate (DBP) and di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP). The result shows that ionic liquid can be used as an enrichment material for SVOCs, which expands the application field of the ionic liquids.
