Abstract:
One of the main challenges for coated conductor applications is to produce sharp cubic textured alloy substrates with high strength and low magnetism. At present, the traditional industrialization Ni5at%W (Ni5W) alloy substrates have been large into production. However, the formation mechanism of recrystallization texture is still not investigated definitely. In this work, the cube textured Ni5W substrates with similar to 99% cold-rolling, starting from advanced smelting casting ingots followed by Rolling Assisted Biaxial Textured Substrate (RABiTS), have been prepared. The evolution of deformation and recrystallization textures in the Ni5W tape has been investigated by Electron Back Scattering Diffraction (EBSD). Results show that the cold-rolled texture is a typical Cu-type deformation texture on a global scale. Due to the nucleation advantage, cube gains are easily produced on the surface of the Ni5W tapes at the early stages of recrystallization and there is a nucleation gradient along the thickness of the tapes. The formation of cube texture in Ni5W alloy appears primarily during the size advantage and preferential growth of cube grains has been discussed.
