为实时动态跟踪信号控制交叉口处车辆队列的队尾,采用膨胀和腐蚀2种数学形态学操作检测车辆边缘,使用宽度变化代替宽度固定的伸缩窗来根据车辆队尾的变化进行窗口的伸与缩,从而实现车辆队尾的实时跟踪.采用"回检"技术来解决车辆队列中可能存在的"空洞".实地测试表明:改进的伸缩窗方法能准确实时跟踪车辆队尾.
