Abstract:
A one-dimensional defective photonic crystal stacked with layers of nonlinear material and air, sandwiched by two perfect structures, is designed for multiple wavelengths' second harmonic generation ( SHG). The fundamental waves ( FWs) and SHGs are located at the defect states of the photonic crystal in different photonic bandgaps. Due to the strong localization and low velocity, giant enhancement of the conversion efficiency is achieved. The constructed structure can be used for optical multiple wavelengths' conversion to match practical demands.
