Abstract:

A semiconductor disk laser with a transparent chemical vapor deposited diamond heatspreader is presented The gain region of the semiconductor disk includes 16 non-compensated compressively strained InGaAs quantum wells 710mW continuous-wave output power at 1043nm is produced using a 3% output coupler and 6100mW incident pump power The slope-efficiency is 142% and the optical-to-optical conversion efficiency is 11 6%. The effect of the diamond heatspreader on the laser is also analyzed
