Abstract:
A fire scenario occurring at Ji Shuitan Subway Station (JSTSS) is studied by the numerical method in this paper. The large eddy simulation (LES) code - Fire Dynamics Simulator (FDS) is used for the simulation. The design fire size is 5.0 MW. The dynamics of the hot smoke under different ventilation strategies including exhaust only, push-pull and push-push is predicted, and the smoke temperature, CO concentration can be predicted by the numerical method. Based on the numerical results, the effect of smoke on the passenger evacuation is discussed. The push-pull strategy is taken as the optimum scheme for smoke control under this fire scenario according to NFPA 130. Fire field modeling is found to be a practical engineering tool in fire safety design in subway fires.
