Abstract:
Base on the Finite Element Method of near-field wave motion together with the viscous-spring artificial boundary condition, the earthquake wave motions can be transferred into equivalent nodal fores that applied on the truncated boundary. In the present work, the formulas of equivalent nodal forcesfor the plane seismic SV waves with oblique incident directions are deduced. The accuracy of the input method is demonstrated by the scatting problem of an infinitely long circular cylindrical tunnel. Comparing with the previous input method of SV waves, the present method can simulate the incidence of SV waves with an arbitrary direction. Then, the proposed method is employed to investigate the seismic responses of long lined tunnels under SV waves with different incident directions. The influence of the incident direction of SV wave on the plastic strain, tensile and shear deformations along the tunnel axis, the out-plane and in-plane deformations of the tunnel cross-section is studied. The numerical results indicate that the seismic responses of long lined tunnels are significantly affected by the incident directions of SV waves, which should be included in mapping the seismic risk of tunnels. © 2018, Nanjing Univ. of Aeronautics an Astronautics.
