Abstract:
In this study, adsorption and desorption performances of different activated carbon adsorbents were investigated for the abatement of toluene. Among ten carbon adsorbents, PK-3060 and YWB-2H activated carbons exhibited the highest adsorption capacity as indicated by the adsorption breakthrough curves. Characterization of the adsorbents showed the two kinds of AC material had pore size distributions over a broader range including wider micropores and possibly narrow mcsoporcs. The PK-3060 activated carbon had the highest specific surface area and pore volume. The performance of the adsorption-dcsorption-catalytic system for the removal of toluene was also investigated. The results showed that the system had excellent performance for the removal of toluene. In continuous 10 cycles, the toluene concentration of both the adsorbent bed and the catalytic bed was lower than 1 Omg/m\ which met the integrated emission standard of air pollutants of Beijing. © 2020 Parlar Scientific Publications.
