Abstract:
In order to investigate the compression performance of high strength recycled RC columns under small eccentric loading, two high strength full scale normal concrete columns and two high strength full scale recycled concrete columns were designed and tested under repeated uniaxial compression loading. The compression failure characteristics,load-bearing capacity, stiffness degradation, load-lateral deflection curves, strain distribution on the cross-section and energy dissipation were analyzed. The results show that the failure characteristics and the performance degradation of the high strength recycled concrete columns and the high strength normal concrete columns are similar. Under the condition of the same concrete strength, sectional area and reinforcement ratio, the compression performances of the circular section columns are obviously better than the square section columns, and the compression performances of recycled concrete columns are slightly better than the normal concrete columns. In the design of the high strength small recycled concrete columns under small eccentric loading, the related calculating formula in the GB 50010-2010 'Code for design of concrete structures' can be used to calculate the load-bearing capacity with the modification for the strength of the recycled concrete. © 2016, Editorial Office of Journal of Building Structures.
