Abstract:

A wave-absorbing material of Ni-Zn ferrite was prepared by a citric acid sol-gel method using diatomite as a matrix. The crystal structure, surface morphology, density and electromagnetic parameters of wave-absorbing material were investigated by X-ray diffraction, infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, density analysis and radio-frequency impedance spectrum analysis, respectively. The NixZn1-xFe2O4 ferrite with a spinel structure is coated on the surface of diatomite, and the apparent density of the composite is in the range of 3.2 to 3.8 g/cm3. The electromagnetic loss tangent value of diatomite/Ni0.5Zn0.5Fe2O4 composite ranges from 0.05 to 0.30. after adding diatomite/Ni0.5Zn0.5Fe2O4 of 15% (in mass fraction) into gypsum, giving the maximum reflectivity of the gypsum ware of -6.12 dB. © 2016, Editorial Department of Journal of the Chinese Ceramic Society.
