Abstract:
This study aimed to develop a glass-ceramic based on the SiO2-Al2O3-B2O3-P2O5 system. The effect of the nucleating agent TiO2 and the alkali oxide Na2O on the crystallisation behaviour of SiO2-Al2O3-B2O3-P2O5 glass-ceramics was studied using XRD, DTA, and SEM. Results showed that when TiO2 content was 16 wt%, only the anatase crystallised producing a white glass-ceramic. When the TiO2 content was >16 wt%, both rutile and anatase formed, which produced a yellowish colour. When the TiO2 content was 2O content was 2O content was 10 wt%, rutile and anatase crystallised. When the Na2O content was >12 wt%, rutile, anatase and brookite were produced. Therefore, the contents of TiO2 and Na2O must be controlled at 16 and
