Abstract:
The shear-slip is easy to occur at the bottom of construction joint of the concrete shear walls with single row of reinforcements, which will weaken their seismic behavior. In order to investigate the effect of inclined reinforcement configured on the bottom of the shear wall limbs, on the seismic behavior of coupled shear wall with large hole and single row of reinforcements, the tests on coupled shear walls with inclined reinforcements and without them subjected to low-cycle reversed loading were carried out. The failure characteristic, hysteretic property, load-carrying and deformation capacity, stiffness, energy dissipation were comparatively analyzed. And the finite element analysis for the seismic behavior of test specimens was performed by using ABAQUS program. The study results show that when the total amount of reinforcement of the shear wall limbs is constant, using inclined reinforcements on the bottom of coupled shear wall with large opening can limit the development of shear deformation. It was observed that the inclined reinforcements reduced the shear-slip at the bottom of construction joints of shear wall limbs, thus the ductility and energy dissipation capacity of coupled shear wall were improved. © 2016, Editorial Office of China Civil Engineering Journal.
