Abstract:
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Chinese universities implemented many interventions against SAR-CoV-2 transmission. Close contact is thought to be a major transmission route. However, the effect of interventions relating to university closures on exposure risk via close contacts among university students is still poorly understood. In July 2022, an online survey from 2,400 university students in Beijing and Shanghai was conducted. Based on real human behaviors, we evaluated the viral exposure risk during both periods of university closures and non-closures. The residence (home and dormitory) and catering places were main viral exposure places for university students. During university closures, the daily exposure risk for university students decreased by 39.6% compared with the non-closure period, 40.7% for residents and 64.7% for non-residents. © 2024 18th Conference of the International Society of Indoor Air Quality and Climate, INDOOR AIR 2024 - Conference Program and Proceedings.
