Abstract:
The kinetics model of the magnetic pulse welding was established based on the impact of the flying plate. The jet velocity of the point of contact depended on the material density, the material yield strength, geometry, assembly gap and the discharge current. In actual operation, the charging voltage could be selected as adjustable process parameters. In order to achieve the welding of Aluminum alloy 1050 with magnesium alloy AZ31 and aluminum alloy 5A03 with aluminum alloy 5A06, the required charging voltage was calculated by using the established model. Good metallurgical bond was confirmed by metallographic examination and the validity of the model was demonstrated.
