Abstract:

A new type of flat pipe as the heat transfer component was used in latent heat thermal energy storage system. And a set of flat pipe/PCM phase change thermal storage was designed and manufactured. Paraffin was adopted as phase change material, and a series of experiments about melting and solidification of the storage system were performed. With the temperature distribution of paraffin obtained from the experiments, the analysis of the effects of the inlet water temperature on the charging and discharging process were carried out. The homogeneous distribution of temperature and the efficiency of the system were also analyzed. The results showed that the new flat heat pipe thermal storage system works well in the experiment.
