Abstract:

Based on the 4-point bending flexural test of 7 concrete beams and the axial compression test of 21 circular concrete columns, the failure modes of specimens, load-deflection curves of confined beams and stress-strain curves of strengthened columns were derived; and the effect of IHFRPs with different proportions on the bearing capacity, the stiffness and the ductility of specimens were studied. The results show that the concrete beams strengthened with IHFRPs have excellent plastic deformation and energy absorption capacities; the capacity, stiffness and ductility of beams can be effectively improved by IHFRPs; the ductility of circular concrete columns can be enhanced noticeably. Based on experimental data, a strength model of concrete columns confined by IHFRPs has been established.
