Abstract:
A pulsed acousto-optic Q-switched all-fiber laser in Master-oscillator Power Amplifier (MOPA) configuration is introduced. The seed source is a pulse optical fiber laser, which uses a single mode LD as the pump source, single-clad ytterbium-doped fiber with 5 μm core diameter as the gain medium, fiber Bragg gratings as resonator mirrors, and an acousto-optic Q-switch as the modulator. An optical isolator is used at the output end. The output of seed source is amplified by two stage double-clad fiber amplifiers. A 10 W LD with center wavelength about 915 nm, the gain fiber with a core diameter of 10 μm, combiners with pump efficiency about 92%, and an optical isolator with 1.3 dB insertion loss is used in the first stage amplifier. Moreover, a 10 W LD with center wavelength about 975 nm, the gain fiber with a core diameter of 20 μm, combiners with pump efficiency about 90%, and an optical isolator with an insertion loss of 1.2 dB are used in the second stage amplifier. Finally, the laser show its pulse output in an average power of 10 W, repetition rate in 10-34 kHz, and center wavelength in 1064 nm. When the repetition rate is 23 kHz, the pulse width is 275 ns, the 3 dB spectral width is 2.492 nm. This laser can be used as the laser source of laser marking.
