Abstract:
In order to further study the seismic behavior of reinforced concrete hollow bridge columns and its influencial factors, five reinforced concrete hollow bridge columns models with larger ratios were built and tested up to failure under the combined action of constant axial load and reversed cyclic lateral load. The aim is to evaluate seismic performances of all the five models. The concerned influencial factors inspected include longitudinal reinforcement ratio, spiral reinforcement ratio, axial load ratio, and seismic performances having effects such as failure mode, hysteretic behavior, load-carrying capacity and ductility. Analysis on the experimental results indicates that the anti-seismic performance of reinforced concrete hollow bridge columns is, excellent and the influences of the factors above mentioned obey the theory of reinforcement concrete. With such hollow pier in engineering, material can be saved dramtically, while enough security is achieved.
