Abstract:
Three kinds of transverse rumble strips on mountainous expressway were selected to detect the traffic flow data practically. Small and large vehicles' volumes, operating speeds and discrete degrees on expressway sections with transverse rumble strips were evaluated and normalities for speed were verified. Using regression analysis method, small and large vehicles' operating speed models along the rumble strips were developed separately. At the end, consequent suggestions that strengthened the speed control on the expressway sections with transverse rumble strips, such as warning signs of alerting drivers and lengthening transverse rumble strips were made. Results show that the model agrees well with measured data.
