Abstract:
In order to overcome the disadvantage of the existing air-powered engine, a new compressed air power system based on single-screw expander is proposed. Some analysis is discussed in theory for the single-stage system, including the effects of expansion ratio, engine efficiency and air heat temperature to the total output and the evaluation of mean endurance mileage. It is concluded that the main methods to improve the power performance of the single-stage system are to increase the expansion ratio, engine efficiency and air heat temperature, and, the running duration can reach over 90 km totally satisfying the need of short distance vehicle.
