Abstract:

In order to make fundamental research on the combustion process of internal combustion engine, a new type gasoline fueled constant volume combustion chamber (CVCC) with more functions has been successfully developed, the combustion chamber is divided into two parts (upper chamber and lower chamber) by the built-in adaptor, then the simulation test for spark ignition, jet ignition and compression ignition (auto-ignition) of gasoline engine is available. The structure, principle and leading features of the CVCC test system are introduced in detail, some test results have been obtained by flame propagation photo and gas pressure measurement, and then some preliminary conclusions have been presented. Owing to built-in adaptor with whole, higher flame propagation speed, higher combustion peak pressure value and higher combustion stability are available. In some conditions, because of flame trap effect, compression ignition (auto-ignition) occurs in the lower combustion chamber.
