Abstract:
Information Systems Management(ISM) is closely related to global business because Information Systems(IS) made significant contributions in both facilitating and driving global businesses. Nevertheless, it is still a great challenge to manage the IS in an increasingly integrated global environment because the management has to face the differences of various countries. Based on literature study, this article reviews the contents of ISM and examines possible influential factors on the Global Information Systems Management(GISM). We provide two frameworks to motivate further research for GISM. The first framework is GISM-tasks-oriented, and the other one is GISM life cycle oriented. The objective of both frameworks is to address the following question: How can we properly manage IS development, implementation, operation, using, maintenance, updating and upgrading in an internationalised environment? Our frameworks in this paper comprise the content of GISM and six external influential factors, which illuminate the research issues and opportunities.
