Abstract:

This article expatiated on the realization of modeling, loading and post processing by finite element method in detail, and did numerical calculation by simulating the propagations of ultrasonic guided waves in 90 degrees curved pipes with one defect or two defects. The simulation result is consistent with that of experiment, which indicates that finite element method is available for simulating the defect detection in curved pipes using ultrasonic guided waves.
