Abstract:

According to the key roles the phosphorus play in microorganism and considering the microbial regrowth phenomenon of drinking water in water supply network, a viewpoint on improving drinking water biostability by controlling phosphorus content to restrain bacteria growth is proposed. From the aspects of existing monitoring method of phosphorus, phosphorus removal effect of conventional treatment process and the present state of phosphorus removal in water treatment, an analysis of necessary research work is conducted to implement the proposal. It has pointed out that it will be a field for advanced phosphorus removal from drinking water, by developing new and highly effective coagulants and special adsorbents with advantage of phosphorus removal, on the condition that the existing treatment process is not changed.
