Abstract:

The short specially shaped columns with concealed columns and with crossed reinforcing bars are put forward in this paper. Through the tests of seismic behavior of 3 Z-shaped column specimens, the bearing capacity, ductility, hysteresis curves and failure modes in two engineering horizontal directions of Z-shaped column are analyzed. It is proved that the concealed columns in the short Z-shaped column can greatly improve its seismic behavior. Then, based on the tests of seismic behavior of 3 T-shaped, 3 + -shaped and 3 L-shaped column specimens, the seismic behavior of the general specially shaped columns, specially shaped columns with concealed columns and specially shaped column with crossed reinforcing bars are compared respectively for each shape. It is proved that the crossed reinforcing bars in the short specially shaped columns can significantly improve its seismic behavior. Finally, by applying the proposed model, a non-linear finite element analyses is carried out for the short specially shaped columns subjected to cyclic loading. The analytical results are in good agreement with the test results.
