Abstract:

The two-stage water evaporative cooling system (TSEC) has the advantages of lower energy consumption, lower costs-higher environmental friendly and higher cooling efficiency than the direct water evaporative cooling system (DEC) and the indirect water evaporative cooling system (IEC). The water evaporative cooling technology is used more and more in the project. The cooling performance of TSEC is validated through the experiment in this paper. The effects of performance on TSEC are analyzed including the IEC plate interval, velocity of the primary air, relative humidity of the primary and the secondary air, ratio of the secondary and primary air flow velocity and the packing thickness of DEC. The results indicate that the cooling efficiency will be higher when the IEC plate interval δis 4mm, the velocity of primary air ν1 is 2.0 m/s, the ratio of secondary and primary air flow velocity ν2 /ν1is 1.2, and the packing thickness of DEC is 200mm. The experimental and the theoretical analysis results show that the two-stage evaporative cooler not only has favorable application prospect in the dry region of the Northwest of China, but also has abroad application in the medium humidity areas such as Shanxi, Gansu, and even Beijing .But it is not applicable in the south of China with large humidity in summer.
