Abstract:

In order to improve the quality and efficiency of video coding and decoding, it is of great significance to select a suitable loop filter scheme. In this paper, an adaptive scheme based on content is promoted, with several elements taken into consideration, which includes the correlation between two macroblocks, the average value of motion vector in macroblock, the different level of QP value and the difference between two pixels values. All of these elements are colligated based on the statistical result of the video test and taken as the judgment criterion for strength of loop filter. The experimental results indicate that this method is good for improving the efficiency of video coding. © 2003 IEEE.
