Abstract:
Intergranular corrosion and stress corrosion cracking resistance of Al-Zn-Mg-Cu alloy with trace Er addition were examined by means of stress corrosion cracking and intergranular corrosion testing from GB-T7998-2005 and HB5254-83, and microstructure of the alloy was observed by OM (optical microscope) and SEM (scanning electron microscope). The results indicate that trace Er addition can greatly improve intergranular corrosion and stress corrosion cracking resistance of the alloy, however, with more than 0.4% Er addition, stress corrosion cracking resistance will be descended.
