Abstract:

Intermodal terminals are key points of urban transportation system. Quantitative evaluations should be done before planning, design, and management scenarios of intermodal terminals are carried out. Because traditional evaluation indicators were all based on fixed value or experience, dynamic effect caused by pedestrian congestion and various facility combination cannot be reflected. Based on the analysis results of simulation tool, dynamic evaluation indicators system was proposed to reflect the operation status of intermodal terminals in the view of point of safety, cost-efficiency and comfort. In order to figure out the best scenario, matter-element analysis was used to evaluate different scenarios. The weights of the indicators were determined by variation coefficient method. A pedestrian simulation model of an intermodal terminal in Beijing was built and analyzed to demonstrate how to use this indicators system and evaluation method. The application result showed that the dynamic evaluation indicators system was operational and could reflected the operation efficiency of intermodal terminal comprehensively and precisely.
