Abstract:
Bulk sintered Nd-Fe-B waste magnets come mainly from machining scraps and magnets dissembled from waste apparatus. These waste magnets keep the similar chemical composition and microstructure of virgin sintered Nd-Fe-B magnet. Therefore, wet-process metallurgy method, which involves complicated recycling procedure, high recycling cost and potential environmental pollution, is not fit for bulk sintered Nd-Fe-B waste magnets. In recent years, hydrogen treatment technology has been developed to recycle the waste magnets in the way of short route, low cost and high efficiency. In present paper, the mechanism, technical route and current progress of the hydrogen treatment technology for waste magnets recycling were introduced. © 2016, Editorial Office of "Chinese Rare Earths".
