Abstract:

The deficiency of the endurance mileage has become the main obstacle to the development of electric vehicles because of the limited battery specific energy. To extend the mileage of electric vehicles, the energy management strategy based on recovering the braking energy is often used. In this paper, a simulation model using real vehicle experimental data is built and calibrated by the dynamic performance test data. On the basis of distribution of braking torque, the energy management strategy is implemented to fulfill the regenerative braking. Comparing with the original vehicle, the state of charge of the battery increases to 33.2% from 32% after ten-kilometer real running conditions and the per hundred kilometers consumption decreases to 10.61 kW·h from 13.24 kW·h, the electric energy consumption decreases by 19.3% accordingly. © 2016 Taylor & Francis Group, London.
