Abstract:

A new type of 3-dimensional seismic isolation bearing tested on shaking-table is introduced in the paper. The new bearing is combined with Teflon sliding system and helical springs in the horizontal direction, and the disc springs are utilized for seismic isolation in the vertical direction. To get the data for theoretical model, the hysteretic loops of the bearing excited by the sinusoidal excitation and recorded earthquake waves were tested in the horizontal direction, meanwhile, the performance of the bearing related to the vertical loading and input excitation was examined in details as well. In the vertical direction, the equivalent stiffness and damping ratio of the bearing which closely related to the pre-loadings was tested, and the damping ratio is 0. 1 to 0. 15, which increased with the vertical pre-loadings. It is shown that the bearing shares good performance in the horizontal and vertical direction.
