Abstract:

New seismic design method, the setting of crossed reinforcing bars in specially shaped column is suggested after the proposition of the specially shaped column with concealed column. Based on the tests of seismic behavior of 3 T-shaped column specimens, the seismic behavior of the general T-shaped column, T-shaped column with concealed column and T-shaped column with crossed reinforcing bars is compared. It is proved that the crossed reinforcing bars in the short T-shaped column is able to remarkably improve the seismic behavior.
