Material Distribution Planning Method and Experimental Verification under Multinode and Multivehicle Scene SCIE
期刊论文 | 2024 , 150 (11) | JOURNAL OF CONSTRUCTION ENGINEERING AND MANAGEMENT
Abstract&Keyword Cite

Abstract :

In the construction process of construction engineering, there exist a complex construction site layout and multiequipment collaborative work. If a reasonable construction plan cannot be made quickly and accurately, the investment in construction costs will be increased. Aiming at the construction material distribution, this study proposed a construction plan planning method under the multinode and multivehicle scene. Firstly, a mathematical model of the material distribution planning problem in the multinode multivehicle scene was established. The basic assumptions, objective functions, and constraints were proposed. The triangular scalar variables and 'unitization' processing methods were incorporated into the mathematical model. In order to solve the problem of material distribution planning, a heuristic neural network algorithm was designed. A 'gene-chromosome-individual' representation method and a 'two-step' calculation concept were defined. The specific implementation steps of the algorithm were given. Fully considering the type and quantity of vehicles and the length of the path, a method of establishing the mapping relationship between the construction scheme and the construction cost was proposed. The feasibility of the proposed theoretical method was verified by a cable truss structure model experiment. A calculation method with high fitting degree and fast running speed was established. According to the experiment model, the best construction scheme was formed. The results showed that the optimal construction scheme had a high vehicle loading rate and a clear distribution path, which effectively saved the construction cost under the premise of ensuring smooth construction.

Optimization method of cable structure demolition driven by digital twin evolution model SCIE
期刊论文 | 2024 , 69 | STRUCTURES
Abstract&Keyword Cite

Abstract :

The large-span cable structure has the problems of complex component connection, cumbersome demolition process and difficult process coordination, which lead to high construction safety risk and low efficiency. Moreover, the optimization of the construction process scheme is difficult, and the convergence and visualization of the finite element analysis are insufficient, which hinders the construction efficiency. This study proposes a cable structure demolition optimization method driven by the digital twin (DT) evolution model. From the perspective of virtual-real mapping, the DT evolution process of cable structure demolition is clarified. The virtualization method of physical demolition process is formed by integrating visual modeling, simulation modeling and data modeling. Taking full account of the temporal and spatial evolution of the demolition process, a DT evolution model of the demolition process is established. Starting from the information flow, component flow, control flow and their relationship, the problems existing in the process of demolition execution are analyzed. Driven by the twin evolution process, a data mapping method for the demolition process is proposed. The safety risk is characterized by the mechanical properties (MPs) of the structure, and the expression language of the data association relationship is established. The particle swarm optimization back propagation neural network (PSO-BPNN) is improved, and an intelligent analysis method of MPs in the whole process of demolition is proposed. The best construction scheme is obtained by integrating the changes in MPs between the various demolition steps. The information of the demolition evolution process is divided into functional modules, and a DT platform is developed to efficiently guide the actual construction. Taking the demolition process of a cable truss experimental model as an example, the effectiveness of the proposed method is verified. The research results show that the DT evolution model can accurately map the actual demolition process. The deep learning method analyzes the mechanical properties of the structure and obtains the best construction scheme quickly and accurately. The development and application of the twin platform improves the degree of visualization and realizes the efficient guidance of the virtual model to the actual construction.

Abstract :

In order to ensure the high efficiency and quality consistency of cable structure in each construction stage, this study proposes a digital twin method for intelligent lifting of cable structure under multi-collaborative mode. Firstly, a construction and operation methods of the digital twin logic model are formed. In the logical model, a relationship between the transmission and iteration of construction information in the collaborative process is defined. In order to realize the adaptability of working conditions, the coupling relationship between construction step and structural elevation is established. A cable structure lifting analysis model driven by an improved long short-term memory neural network is proposed, which effectively solves the problem of poor convergence of the traditional finite element method. An automatic time window selection method is formed for the neural network. An adaptive moment estimation method is used for neural network parameter optimization, which improves the efficiency and accuracy of the analysis. Taking the lifting process of a cable truss structure test model as an example, a digital twin collaborative construction platform is established to verify the effectiveness and feasibility of the research method. The results show that the digital twin logic model realizes the process collaboration, scene collaboration and data collaboration, and significantly improves the stability of construction quality and the linkage of construction process. Through the improved long short-term memory neural network, the coupling relationship between the construction step and the structural elevation is established, which accurately guides the whole construction process.

Experimental study on cohesion-friction mechanical properties for concrete SCIE
期刊论文 | 2024 , 449 | CONSTRUCTION AND BUILDING MATERIALS
Abstract&Keyword Cite

Abstract :

Concrete is a geotechnical material characterized by cohesive-frictional properties. However, there is currently paucity of specialized experimental research to elucidate these features and their potential mechanisms. This study addresses this gap by designing and conducting 72 experimental sets on C30, C40, and C50 concrete to investigate their cohesive-frictional attributes. Utilizing two comprehensive conventional triaxial compression tests halted upon reaching constant stress with increasing strain, this research examines the mechanisms and corresponding mechanical behaviors of cohesion and friction. During the initial loading test, the macroscopic mechanical behavior, incorporating both cohesive and frictional properties, is observed. The same specimen is then subjected to a second triaxial test under identical conditions, predominantly revealing frictional mechanical behavior. By comparing the results from the initial and subsequent loadings of the same specimen, the cohesive and frictional properties of concrete are decoupled, allowing for the determination of independent deformation and strength laws for cohesion and friction. Based on the experimental findings, this study thoroughly discusses the deformation mechanisms and strength evolution laws of both properties, elucidating the manifestation mechanisms of cohesion and friction in concrete. Furthermore, a comparative analysis with the nonlinear unified strength criterion and the strength laws on the triaxial compression meridian plane is performed. The novel experimental method proposed in this study, which is designed to investigate the cohesion-friction properties of concrete, has successfully decoupled the cohesive strength and frictional strength of concrete for the first time from an experimental perspective. This research provides a foundational experimental basis and mechanistic insight into the fundamental mechanical properties of concrete materials, which will facilitate the establishment of cohesive-frictional strength theories and constitutive models.

A unified empirical method for predicting both vertical and horizontal ground displacements induced by tunnel excavation SCIE

Abstract&Keyword Cite

Abstract :

An empirical model for describing the soil movements induced by tunneling is proposed, then the mathematical relationship between horizontal displacement and vertical displacement is obtained. By analyzing 25 sets of data from field engineering and 35 sets of data from model tests, the formula for the maximum settlement Sv, max(z) is optimized to adapt to different ground conditions. The Modified Gaussian function is developed by introducing the existing width coefficient of the settlement trough i(z) and the optimized Sv, max(z) to describe the surface and subsurface vertical displacement. Subsequently, the formula for the horizontal displacement is derived based on the Modified Gaussian function. H(z) representing the position of the oriented point of the soil movement is a variable in the formula for horizontal displacement. Based on measured results, a logarithmic function and a quadratic polynomial function are proposed to describe the variation of H(z) with depth in the clay stratum and sand stratum, respectively. Then, the rationality of the proposed method is validated by 4 sets of in-situ data and 4 sets of test data. Finally, the implementation process of the proposed method is illustrated, and the inversion results of the ground displacement field in Beijing Metro Line 12 are presented.

Modeling confined concrete behavior in finite element with a non-orthogonal elastoplastic model SCIE

Abstract&Keyword Cite

Abstract :

The accuracy of a constitutive model for confined concrete largely relies on its capability to capture concrete's dilatancy behavior. In this paper, a non -orthogonal flow rule (NFR) is used to reasonably characterize the concrete's volume change law in relation to the stress state without the necessity for a plastic potential function. Then, the non -orthogonal plastic model is implemented in the finite element (FE) software ABAQUS using the implicit stress update algorithm, which employs the line search method and the numerical consistent tangent stiffness matrix to ensure the robustness and computational efficiency of FE analysis. Finally, FE simulations are performed to evaluate the constitutive model's capabilities in actively and passively confined concrete. In the latter case, steel tubes restrict the concrete's lateral deformation. An analysis and discussion are conducted regarding the impact of dilatancy behavior on concrete -filled steel tube (CFST) columns. The consistency between experimental data and simulation results demonstrates that the FE modeling with a non -orthogonal constitutive model provides an effective tool to describe the behavior of confined concrete.

Abstract :

Establishing a high-fidelity twin model and accurately analyzing instant mechanical behaviors are important ways to improve structural reliability. This study proposes a digital twin - based model updating method for mechanical behaviors analysis of cable truss structure. A mechanical behaviors analysis architecture integrating structural entity in physical space, structural twin model and model dynamic updating algorithms is developed. A computational method suitable for model updating of cable truss structures is developed by integrating the finite element model with the programming language. The twin modelling approach is developed by using the test structure as a comparative target for parameter correction. Relying on the twin model, the structural mechanical behaviors analysis is carried out. The effectiveness of the analysis method is verified by taking the cable truss structure as an example. The objective function and optimization parameters required for model updating are constructed to carry out mechanical behaviors analysis and damage identification of the structure. The results show that the updated twin model can accurately match the measured data of the mechanical behaviors of the structure. For the static and dynamic response of the structure, the simulation accuracy of the twin model is above 94%. For structural damage identification, the type, location and extent of damage can be efficiently obtained by comparing the parameters before and after the update.

A method for characterizing the deformation localization in granular materials using the relative particle motion SCIE

WoS CC Cited Count: 3
Abstract&Keyword Cite

Abstract :

The failure location identification of granular materials can be solved by capturing the deformation localization. Considering the relative translation and rotation among particles, a new concept named the relative particle motion (RPM) is proposed to describe the deformation localization of the granular materials. An approach is developed to realize the selection of particles that are used to calculate RPM. The number of particles involved in RPM calculation is controlled by two key parameters, i.e., grid spacing (U) and domain radius (R). Combining the proposed concept and the selection approach of particles, the method that can capture the region of the deformation localization in the granular material is established and implemented in PFC2D.The simulation of a uniaxial compression test is conducted to analyze the effect of parameters U and R on the calculation results of the RPM field, and a reasonable range of U and R is given. Three typical conditions, including the biaxial compression, trapdoor, and particle flow tests, are taken as examples to validate the proposed method under different loading conditions. Regions of the deformation localization characterized by RPM have a good agreement with the shear band presented in the published literature.

A cyclic p-y elastoplastic model applied to lateral loaded pile in soft clays SCIE
期刊论文 | 2023 | CANADIAN GEOTECHNICAL JOURNAL
Abstract&Keyword Cite

Abstract :

The p-y method as a simplified analysis tool has been widely used to analyze the behavior of laterally loaded piles. This paper develops a novel cyclic p-y elastoplastic model within the framework of the single-surface bounding surface theory. The model can capture the soil stiffness degradation during cyclic loading by incorporating the cumulative plastic displacement to an interpolation function of the elastoplastic resistance coefficient. The model is relatively simple with only four parameters that can be determined from standard soil properties and stress-strain responses measured in direct simple shear tests. The performance of developed model is validated by predicting the cyclic lateral response of piles installed in soft clay during field and centrifuge tests published in the literature. The model can reliably simulate monotonic and cyclic responses of piles under different lateral loading patterns, and capture main characteristics of the pile-head load-displacement curve, such as nonlinearity, hysteresis, displacement accumulation, and stiffness degradation. It can also predict the evolution of the lateral deflection and sectional bending moment along the pile during cyclic loading.
