Abstract :

双钢管混凝土复合柱在普通钢管混凝土柱基础上设置了内部钢管,由于内管受到外层混凝土的高温保护,因此其耐火性能得到改善。文章通过精细化数值模拟方法对此类双钢管混凝土复合柱的耐火性能开展研究,全面分析了内管径厚比、外管径厚比、内外管直径比等参数的影响,并且对比分析了在相同的含钢率条件下不同截面组合型式(内圆外圆、内方外圆和内圆外方)双钢管混凝土短柱的耐火极限。结果表明:在直径不变时增大内钢管的厚度以及在厚度不变时增加内钢管的直径,都有利于耐火极限的提高;在保持整体含钢率不变的条件下,不同截面组合形式的双钢管混凝土柱耐火极限相差不大,但总体上双圆钢管混凝土短柱的耐火性能偏优;另外,双钢管混凝土复合柱的...

Abstract :

In this paper, the structural behavior of concrete-filled double steel tubular (CFDST) stub columns composed of square hollow sections is investigated experimentally and numerically. The experimental program comprises compression tests on short columns loaded concentrically. The test parameters mainly focused on the influences of the width-to-thickness ratios of steel tubes and concrete strength on the axial behavior of CFDST stub columns. Finite element (FE) models are also developed to investigate the influences of a wide range of structural parameters on their axial performance. It is observed that square CFDST columns have improved strength and ductility compared to their CFST and DCFST counterparts. Finally, a calculation formula is proposed to predict their ultimate compressive strengths under the axial compression load.

Abstract :

为适应建筑特殊设计与分析的需要,研究了整体结构火灾反应分析的系统实现方法,并以MSC/Patran为平台,利用其提供的PCL,结合Fortran语言,通过客户化以及窗体增设等技术开发了建筑结构火灾反应分析系统。系统采用了自开发纤维梁与分层壳单元模型以及结构瞬态热传导分析模块,能够实现火灾下建筑结构火灾反应过程计算与分析,为建筑结构火灾安全设计与分析提供分析工具和参考依据。

Abstract :

The accurate prediction of the concrete confinement effects in concrete-filled double-skin steel tubular (CFDST) columns composed of a circular section is vital in stimulating their true structural performance. However, existing concrete confinement models for such columns were developed based on limited studies and may not accurately predict their axial responses under axial loading. In this paper, a numerical model is developed to study the nonlinear performance of axially-loaded short CFDST columns incorporating an accurate concrete confinement model. Herein, a novel expression to calculate the lateral confining pressure on the confined concrete of the CFDST column is proposed considering the influences of a wide range of important column parameters. Furthermore, a reduction factor to accurately predict the post-peak behavior of confined concrete is suggested based on the previous test results. The accuracy of the numerical model incorporating the proposed concrete confinement model is verified against the experimental tests. The accuracy of the existing concrete confinement models is also evaluated and compared with the one proposed in this study. It is demonstrated that the proposed confinement model can yield the axial performance of CFDST columns more accurately. A parameter study is then performed to analyze the impacts of important column parameters on the axial performance of such a column. The applicability of the existing design standards in designing CFDST columns is verified. Lastly, a simple and accurate design equation to quantify the ultimate axial load is proposed.

Abstract :

Elliptical concrete-filled stainless steel tubular (CFSST) columns are high-performance composite columns that have the enormous potentiality to be used in composite construction in the near future. However, to date, limited studies on the performance analysis of such columns under axial compression have been performed taking into account the accurate material laws of stainless steel and the confined concrete. This paper presents a mathematical model to investigate the axial performance of elliptical CFSST short columns. Accurate material laws of stainless steel and the confined concrete are incorporated in the numerical modeling to capture their true performance. Independent test results are utilized to validate the accuracy of the mathematical predictions. A parameter study is performed to study the important column parameters on their axial performance. The investigations of the accuracy of the existing design models for CFST columns in designing axially loaded elliptical CFSST columns are performed with the test and numerical predictions.

Abstract :

A circular concrete-filled double steel tubular column (CFDST) with a square hollow section (SHS) as an inner tube is introduced as a new form of a composite column in the paper. A series of axial compression tests that are carried out on this new type of composite column is reported in this study. Three-dimensional models based on the finite element (FE) program ABAQUS are also developed for such columns employing a modified confined concrete constitutive model for the core concrete. The accuracy of the model is verified by comparing the FE model with the experimental results. The effects of various parameters on the load-axial strain response of CFDST short columns are studied by using the validated FE model. The suggested formulas based on the confined concrete model for calculating the bearing capacity of CFDST short columns are proposed. © 2020 Elsevier Ltd

Abstract :

Circular concrete-filled double steel tubular (CFDST) column is a high-performance composite column that has significant potential to be used in the construction of high-rise composite structures. This paper presents experimental and strength computational investigations on CFDST short columns that are subjected to eccentric compression load. A total of sixteen CFDST stub columns, two concrete-filled steel tubular (CFST) columns, and two double-skin concrete-filled steel tubular (DCFST) columns were tested to investigate their structural performance. The test behavior of the CFDST column loaded eccentrically is discussed and compared against its CFST and DCFST counterparts. The test results show that the CFDST column has improved strength and ductility under eccentric loading when compared with other composite columns. The strengths of the CFDST stub columns in this study together with the test strengths from the literature were used to assess the strength predictions by Eurocode 4 and AISC 360-16. It was found that the current predictions generally underestimate or overestimate the strengths. A new reduction factor for predicting the ultimate strengths of CFDST short columns under eccentric compression is proposed based on the test results. By adopting the newly proposed reduction factor and design method, the design predictions are found to be improved that provide reasonable estimations for circular CFDST columns loaded eccentrically.

Dynamic behavior of sawdust-mixed soil in shaking table test EI

In the shaking table tests of underground structures, the scale ratios of the soil and structure are inconsistent. To this end, a scaled model soil was developed in this study. Through a series of tests, the dynamic response of the model soil was investigated. A clay mixed with sawdust was designed for shaking table tests based on the predominant period similarity relationship between the structure and the foundation soil. The sawdust-mixed clay was subjected to a series of shaking table tests at Beijing University of Technology using a rigid prefabricated continuous model box (dimensions: 7.7 m × 3.2 m × 1.2 m). Through the tests, the performance of the model box and the nonlinear seismic behavior of the model soil were studied. The results are as follows: (i) The boundary effect of the model box was negligible during the test. (ii) The predominant frequencies of the model soil shifted toward lower values with increasing shaking intensity. This indicated that the model soil became increasingly softer and that the nonlinear effect of the soil was more evident. (iii) With the increase in the shaking intensity, the peak acceleration of the model soil at the same measured points increased, whereas their amplification factors decreased. In addition, the amplification factors first decreased and then increased from the bottom to the top of the soil. This might have been due to the increase in the shear strain and decrease in the shear modulus of the soil with increasing shaking intensity. (iv) The shear modulus of the soil was closely related to the confining pressure. At the same shaking intensity, the shear stress increased, and the shear strain decreased from top to bottom of the model soil. © 2020 Elsevier Ltd
