Abstract :
The return cost burdens both consumers and merchants, leading merchants to emphasize information disclosure during pre-sales of new products. This study analyzes the effects of information disclosure methods on consumer valuation and merchants' pre-sale strategies across four scenarios: no advance selling, no information disclosure, traditional information disclosure, and blockchain-enabled information disclosure. We examine optimal pricing and inventory strategies under each scenario, assessing the value of information disclosure and the merchant's optimal advance selling strategy. We find that traditional information disclosure could lead to various pre-sale pricing outcomes based on consumer valuation distribution bounds, trust levels, and merchant return losses. Blockchain-based disclosure influences merchants to implement premium pricing, which may render blockchain unnecessary. Offering pre-orders is beneficial with any information disclosure method. If consumers have varied product understandings, merchants benefit more from using an information disclosure strategy rather than just offering returns; otherwise, the reverse is true. The paper provides theoretical insights into optimal pre-sale information disclosure practices.

Abstract :
Chinese open-domain reading comprehension question answering is a task in the field of natural language processing. Traditional neural network-based methods lack interpretability in answer reasoning when addressing open-domain reading comprehension questions. This research is grounded in cognitive science's dual-process theory, where System One performs question reading and System Two handles reasoning, resulting in a novel Chinese open-domain question-answering retrieval algorithm. The experiment employs the publicly available WebQA dataset and is compared against other reading comprehension methods, with the F1-score reaching 78.66%, confirming the effectiveness of the proposed approach. Therefore, adopting a reading comprehension question-answering model based on cognitive graphs can effectively address Chinese reading comprehension questions.

Abstract :
This paper develops one basic and two improved principal-agent models to analyse the hazmat transportation (HT) under a regulatory policy in China. Compared to the basic principal-agent model, the improved models focus on two important elements of HT: harmful risk and government regulatory policy. Under the contract, the principal is the shipper and the agent is the carrier. First, we study the implications of harmful properties of hazmat transported by the agent on the principal's contract. Second, we consider the regulatory policy with penalty from the government, which can drive the agent to meet the entry threshold of qualifications. Finally, an optimal contract is presented to promote the safety of HT. A good regulatory policy will reach a win-win solution both for the enterprises and the government. We conduct 12 numerical experiments for parameter analysis. The methodology and results provide a quantitative approach with significant insights for decision-makers.

Abstract :
Operations and finance are two sides of the same coin. In supply chains, operations management aims to match the supply with demand of material flows, whereas corporate finance seeks to match the supply with demand of monetary flows. With increasing availability of huge amounts of data, operations and finance interfaces in a cycle of material, financial, and information flows. For example, Fintech is re-shaping supply chains, as it has fueled innovative financial products and services that rely on extensive operational data. It has given rise to new business models aimed at directly improving operational performance by alleviating financial frictions, and it has disrupted traditional processes in the delivery of financial services, leading to a wide range of new operational challenges and opportunities. In this special issue, 14 papers were subsequently extended, double-blind reviewed and revised according to the regular IJPE process. A brief summary of the papers is presented below, assigning the papers to categories that reflect their main characteristics. We hope that this gives a good impression of recent research streams in operation and finance in supply chains, and can motivate future studies. We express our sincere gratitude to Prof. T. C. E. Cheng and Prof. Stefan Minner for their strong support of this special issue.

Abstract :
Blockchain technology (BCT) has the potential to revolutionize the supply chain financing (SCF) system and mitigate the detrimental effects of demand volatility on SCF. As one of the first to examine the effects of BCT implementation in SCF from the perspective of demand volatility, we focus on the impacts of BCT on equilibrium and whether the retailer has the incentive to adopt BCT. We perform a comparative analysis of the Stackelberg game involving three parties under scenarios with and without BCT adoption. We find that when the demand volatility reduction coefficient is sufficiently large, BCT can facilitate a reduction of the ordering quantity while still sustaining the same service level, thus avoiding excessive inventory, and reducing the associated risk of bankruptcy. Additionally, the decreased bankruptcy risk enabled the bank to reduce interest rates. The adoption of BCT can improve the profit of the retailer when the adoption cost of BCT is sufficiently low. Our findings provide management insights into when the small and medium-sized enterprises should adopt BCT and the interactive decision-making of all parties in the SCF business after BCT adoption.

Abstract :
Under the influence of COVID-19, although upstream small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in construction industry chain suffer from high operating costs and tight cash flow problems, their financing demands are even stronger. As an electronic and platform-based comprehensive service, online supply chain finance can ease the financing problems of SMEs in the construction industry. However, it has become an important issue for financial institutions to effectively assess the credit risk in the process of online supply chain financing. In this paper, an online supply chain risk assessment method, which is based on a hybrid model chain, including eXtreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost), Synthetic Minority Oversampling TEchnique for Nominal and Continuous (SMOTENC), and Random Forest (RF), is proposed to identify and control the credit risk of financial institutions. Specifically, we establish the financial credit risk assessment system with respect to the characteristics of financing enterprises in the construction industry supply chain, including the status of financing enterprises, the status of core enterprises, the operating status of the supply chain, and the status of assets under financing. On the basis of the system, the best index number of the assessment system and the minority samples are obtained by the XGBoost algorithm and the SMOTENC algorithm, respectively. The classification method based on RF is applied to judge the credit risk of financing enterprises in the supply chain of construction industry. In the simulation stage, we take upstream SMEs in the supply chain of construction industry in China as an example for empirical analysis to validate the effectiveness of our proposed method. The credit risk assessment method proposed in this paper has better performance than the commonly used ones in the academic field with an average improvement on assessment accuracy for 6.39% and an average increase of Area Under Curve for 6.95%. Our study provides meaningful exploration on the fund monitoring system of the financing service platform to improve financing efficiency and risk management level.

为研究结构尺寸在不同动态双轴工况下对混凝土破坏行为的影响,建立了考虑混凝土材料非均质性的细观力学分析模型,对不同尺寸的立方体混凝土试件在不同应变率(10-5 s-1、10 s-1和1 S-1)和不同侧应力比(0、±0.25、±0.50、±0.75、±1.00和-∞)工况下进行了细观数值模拟.研究了混凝土的动态双轴压缩和压缩-拉伸力学行为以及应变率和侧应力比两个因素对混凝土动态双轴强度及其尺寸效应行为的影响规律,分析与讨论了不同工况下结构尺寸对混凝土动态双轴强度的影响机理.研究结果表明:动态双轴压缩工况下,结构尺寸对混凝土动态双轴压缩强度的影响随应变率增大逐渐被削弱,随侧应力比增大先被削弱而后增强;动态双轴压缩-拉伸工况下,随应变率增大,结构尺寸对混凝土动态主轴压缩强度和动态侧轴拉伸强度的影响均被削弱.随侧应力比增大,结构尺寸对混凝土动态主轴压缩强度的影响被增强,而对混凝土动态侧轴拉伸强度的影响被削弱;逐渐增大的应变率会削弱侧应力比对混凝土双轴强度尺寸效应的影响.

Abstract :
In e-commerce, sellers can disclose product information (such as quality, size information, function, and so on) to make consumers understand the products. However, in the process of information disclosure, consumers often fall into information distortion or information loss. Because of its immutability and traceability, blockchain can help e-commerce sellers improve information disclosure and ensure the efficiency of information transmission. We study a duopoly competitive e-commerce market in which two e-commerce sellers compete in information disclosure. According to whether to apply blockchain, we divide the sellers' decision-making into four research scenarios (NN, BN, NB, BB). Based on the above four scenarios, we get the market demand of different products depending on the consumer utility, and further establish the game model in the competitive environment. This paper explores the impact of blockchain on information disclosure and consumer surplus, and achieves the Nash equilibrium of blockchain application for both sides. In the expansion model, we study e-commerce sellers' risk aversion and capital constraints, and further explore their impact on blockchain in practice. Finally, combining with blockchain's characteristics, we also analyze the impact of the application of blockchain at other aspects on the supply chain. We find that when consumers' trust in information is low or the cost of blockchain applications is low, all e-commerce sellers in competition will adopt blockchain. In addition, when consumers have low trust in information, it will be difficult to achieve complete equilibrium in the application of blockchain as their risk aversion increases. For capital constrained sellers, when the cost of blockchain application is low, it will be difficult to achieve full equilibrium for blockchain applicants as the bank financing rate increases.

Abstract :
Any potential damage may be severe once an accident occurs involving hazardous materials. It is therefore important to consider the risk factor concerning hazardous material supply chains, in order to make the best inventory routing decisions. This paper addresses the problem of hazardous material multi-period inventory routing with the assumption of a limited production capacity of a given manufacturer. The goal is to achieve the manufacturer's production plan, the retailer's supply schedule and the transportation routes within a fixed period. As the distribution of hazardous materials over a certain period is essentially a multiple travelling salesmen problem, the authors formulate a loading-dependent risk model for multiple-vehicle transportation and present an integer programming model to maximize the supply chain profit. An improved genetic algorithm considering two dimensions of chromosomes that cover the aforementioned period and supply quantity is devised to handle the integer programming model. Numerical experiments carried out demonstrate that using the proposed multi-period joint decision-making can significantly increase the overall profit of the supply chain as compared to the use of single period decision repeatedly, while effectively reducing its risk.
