Abstract :
All-optical modulators are crucial in optical communication, quantum communication, and microwave photonics, owing to their low insertion loss and high efficiency. Thermo-optical modulators, a key subset of alloptical modulators, have been extensively studied, particularly those based on fiber optics and twodimensional materials. However, silicon photonic modulators incorporating two-dimensional materials remain relatively underexplored. This paper introduces a novel thermally induced phase shift model to provide a deeper understanding of the effects of thermal phase shifts on waveguide modes. A Mach-Zehnder interferometric modulator, utilizing graphene oxide thin films and silicon photonic technology, was designed, fabricated, and experimentally characterized. The sensor exhibited a sensitivity of 0.02127 dB/degrees C, with a linear fitting coefficient (R2) of 0.99905 over a temperature range of 25-55 degrees C. Furthermore, the phase modulator exhibited a modulation efficiency of 0.03596 rad/mW, with a linear fitting coefficient of 0.99359. The proposed thermal phase shift model can serve as a novel framework for designing and optimizing thermal modulators based on two-dimensional materials, offering valuable insights for future research and development in this field.

Abstract :
Gallium nitride (GaN) exhibits distinctive physical and chemical properties that render it indispensable in a multitude of electronic and optoelectronic devices. Given that GaN is a typical hard and brittle material that is difficult to machine, femtosecond laser technology provides an effective and convenient tool for processing such materials. However, GaN undergoes complex physical and chemical changes during high-power ablation, which poses a challenge to high-precision processing with controllable geometry. In this study, the quantitative relationship between the parameters of a single-pulse femtosecond laser and GaN ablation morphology was investigated using isotherm distribution. A multiphysics model using COMSOL Multiphysics (R) was developed to generate the isothermal distributions. Experiments were conducted on the femtosecond laser ablation of GaN at various single-pulse energies, and the resulting ablation morphologies were compared with the predictions from the multiphysics model. The comparison demonstrated that the calculated isotherm distribution accurately predicted not only the ablation diameter and depth but also the crater shape across a broad range of laser fluences. The predicted errors of the ablation diameters and depths were within 4.71% and 10.9%, respectively. The root mean square error (RMSE) and coefficient of determination (R2) were employed to evaluate the prediction errors associated with the crater shapes, which fell within the range of 0.018-0.032 mu m and 0.77-0.91, respectively. This study can provide an important reference for utilizing femtosecond lasers in the precise ablation of GaN to achieve desired geometries.

Abstract :
Economic viability and durability are pivotal challenges limiting the commercial application of proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFC). The development of low Pt usage oxygen reduction reaction catalysts with high catalytic activity and durability is imperative. Carbon support corrosion, as well as Pt particles agglomeration and exfoliation are primary causes of commercial Pt/C catalyst degradation. Here, a composite materials formed by TiO2 containing oxygen vacancy (O-V) and carbon nanotube (CNT) was used as a functional support to successfully load Pt nanoparticles (NPs). The oxygen vacancy facilitated interactions between TiO2(O-V) and Pt, enhancing the anchoring of Pt NPs and suppressing particle growth. The Pt/TiO2(O-V)-CNT demonstrates excellent performance with mass activity of 788 mA/mg(Pt) @0.85 V, the half-wave potential increased 34 mV and the tafel slope decreased by 11.89 mVdec(-1) compared to commercial Pt/C. The durability of Pt/TiO2(O-V)-CNT nearly 3-fold that of commercial Pt/C with negligible decay of half-wave potential (0.9 %) and mass activity (16 %). Density functional theory calculations and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy indicated that the charge transfer from TiO2(O-V) to Pt facilitates the formation of strong metal-support interactions (SMSI), leading to a downward shift in the d-band center of Pt and a reduction in the binding strength to *OOH, thus lowering the activation energy of the rate-determining step which in turn promoting the activity of ORR. This study provides a reliable approach for designing catalysts with high activity and durability.

Abstract :
Pseudo-Random Binary Sequence (PRBS) phase modulation is an effective method for suppressing the stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) effect generated by narrow-linewidth fiber lasers during amplification. We noticed that backward time-domain pulses were generated when using PRBS modulation signals in fiber amplification. In this paper, the time-domain dynamic characteristics of the forward output laser and the backward Stokes light after PRBS phase modulation were studied theoretically. Through analyzing the transient SBS three-wave coupling theory and combining it with the SBS accumulation time constant, we knew that the forward and backward high-intensity pulses were caused by the long dwell time of the PRBS. For this purpose, we provided a new method for suppressing high-intensity pulses caused by a long dwell time; namely, we modified the maximum length sequence (MLS) of PRBS signals to eliminate the long dwell time, took the PRBS-9 signal at 1 GHz as an example, and then used MLS1 modulation and MLS2 modulation to compare them with unoptimized PRBS modulation. The output laser peaks of the MLS1 and MLS2 signals were reduced from +/- 55% to +/- 25% and +/- 10% relative to the original PRBSs, respectively, and the peaks of Stokes light were reduced from 39% to 19% and 11%, respectively. Additionally, we experimentally verified that the rational optimization of the sequence did not reduce the SBS threshold. The results provided a new method for suppressing high-intensity pulses during the amplification of a PRBS phase-modulated laser, which played an important role in the output stability of high-power narrow-linewidth fiber amplifiers.

Abstract :
This study numerically explores the synchronization dynamics of a one-dimension edge-emitting laser array monolithically-integrated with an external cold cavity comprehensively, aiming to achieve an in-phase mode optical field. By employing the optical feedback rate equation, the impact of mutual feedback coefficient and coupling coefficient on the synchronization process are investigated thoroughly. The proposed external cold cavity, designed according to the Talbot effect, could significantly diminish the reflectivity of front facet through separated electrode structure, therefore facilitating the phase-locking process. Consequently, the study uncovers the effective regime for establishing in-phase mode operation. Additionally, the numerical analysis also reveals the vivid synchronization dynamic from a chaotic state to partially-phase-locked, then completely-phase-locked, and ultimately periodic oscillation. Furthermore, the impact of practical fabrication tolerances on the synchronization process are explored as well. Based on the simulation results, our work could offer valuable insights for steering the on-chip optical field and developing novel laser arrays with high beam quality. Abstract :
In response to the demand for high-power, long-pulse-width 532 nm lasers in the medical and industrial processing fields, this paper explains how the laser cavity of a high-power Nd:YAG 532 nm laser can be extended while maintaining the laser's q-parameter by using a 4f optical system. The results show that at a repetition rate of 10 kHz, the extended cavity achieved a maximum average power of 112 W. Compared with the short cavity, the power was not significantly reduced. The pulse width was extended from 56 ns to 85 ns, and its broadening ratio reached 46.5%. The laser maintained good beam quality during high-power operation.

Abstract :
In-phase coherent vertical cavity surface emitting laser (VCSEL) arrays have desirable properties for high-brightness laser applications. We employ mutual injection feedback modeling of ring VCSEL arrays with fractional Talbot cavity to select their supermodes. An analysis of the effects of Talbot cavity lengths on engineering the coupling coefficient and gain threshold for in-phase mode operation is provided through the overlapping integrals of optical field distributions. An example design for 24-element arrays with a fractional Talbot cavity is presented, and the in-phase far-field distribution is obtained. This provides a potential method for fabricating Bessel Gaussian beams using larger ring VCSEL arrays.

Abstract :
为了实现高纯度脉冲柱矢量光的输出,提出并搭建基于对称双模耦合器的波长可切换的被动锁模柱矢量全光纤激光器.根据光纤传输原理得到基模向高阶模转换的折射率匹配直径,运用模式耦合模理论及光束传播法模拟分析了对称双模耦合器的结构参数对模式选择及耦合特性的影响,采用熔融拉锥法并免去传统的模式选择耦合器制作上的预拉锥工艺制作了对称双模耦合器,通过搭建一套被动锁模柱矢量全光纤激光器实现了中心波长1 039 nm和1 068 nm可切换、脉冲时间间隔为113.8 ns、重频为8.78 MHz、脉宽660 ps/656 ps、最大输出平均功率为5.25 mW/5.2 mW、模式纯度大于97%的柱矢量光输出.实验验证了对称双模耦合器的可行性,为后续高纯度柱矢量光的获得提供一种可行的方案.

本发明公开了一种激光加热光纤熔融的拉锥方法,包括以下步骤:下位机实时监测加热区域的温度,并把监测到的所述温度生成相应的温度值,反馈给上位机;所述上位机根据所述下位机反馈的温度值的变化,调整拉锥平台拉锥速度。本发明还公开了一种实现激光加热光纤熔融的拉锥方法的拉锥系统,主要包括下位机和下位机,所述下位机用于实时监测加热区域的温度,并把监测到的所述温度生成相应的温度值,反馈给上位机,所述上位机用于根据所述下位机反馈的温度值的变化,调整拉锥平台拉锥速度。本发明具有提高了光纤分光比达到要求的比率和方便维修人员及时维修等优点。

Abstract :
本发明公布了一种金属化密封光纤的制备装置与制备方法。该装置包括了底座,底座上分别设置三个位移台,三个位移台构成一个三角形,其中两个水平设置的位移台上分别置有绝缘板,每个绝缘板上分别固定有一个石墨夹刀,石墨夹刀的两个刀口相对,每个石墨刀片分别与导电线连接,电线与互感器连接;V型槽夹头固定在另外一个位移台上。本发明制备装置简单,较传统制备装置拆卸和组装更简单;金属化密封光纤中的金属套管和裸纤同心度高提高到2个数量等级,达到纳米级;传统制备装置中的电极易和焊料熔接在一起,且电极在高温时容易变形,而本发明中从根本上解决了焊料和传统电极熔接在一起及电极高温变形的问题,同时使焊料融化速度提高3~5倍。
