Analysis of the Potential Economic Impact of Parking Space Comprehensive Utilization on Traditional Business District SCIE SSCI
期刊论文 | 2024 , 16 (1) | SUSTAINABILITY
Abstract&Keyword Cite

Abstract :

This paper investigates the latent classes of parking preference for drivers and the economic effects after implementing Parking Space Comprehensive Utilization (PSC) in traditional business districts (TBD), with a particular focus on the parking preferences of electric vehicle users (EVU). Firstly, Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) is used to reduce dimensionality and determine the latent structure. Then, based on the Latent Class Model (LCM), the customers are classified, and the proportion of each class under various latent variables is analyzed. Finally, the paper conducts a quantitative analysis of economic effects by considering different psychological factors across different customer classes. With the data obtained from revealed preference (RP) and stated preference (SP) surveys, this paper identifies the customers' preferences for the three scenarios presented. The results show that (1) customers can be classified into four classes: core customers (CCS, 34%), potential customers (PCS, 29%), regular customers (RCS, 22%), and marginal customers (MCS, 15%), among which EVU do not show a significant preference for parking charging facilities in TBD; (2) the potential economic improvements for these four classes are: 9%, 12%, 8%, and 10%; (3) CCS has the greatest potential to increase store revenue by yen 7041, while PCS has the greatest potential to increase store customer flow by 31%. These findings provide a valuable reference for decision-making by TBD store managers.

The Optimization of Bus Departure Time Based on Uncertainty Theory-Taking No. 207 Bus Line of Nanchang City, China, as an Example SCIE SSCI
期刊论文 | 2023 , 15 (8) | SUSTAINABILITY
Abstract&Keyword Cite

Abstract :

In order to optimize the bus departure time considering uncertain factors, this paper constructed an uncertain bi-level programming model for departure frequency and scheduling of a bus line. The uncertainty of passenger arrival and bus operation time were taken into account, combined with actual operation conditions. Nanchang 207 bus line was taken as an example to optimize the departure frequency and scheduling in the morning peak hour. The optimal departure frequency in the morning peak hour is 12 times. The overall index value of the route's non-uniform scheduling during peak hours increased by 0.06 and 9.23% compared with uniform scheduling. The analysis results show that the effect of the non-uniform scheduling is obvious. The issue of bus line departure frequency and scheduling has a positive effect on improving the efficiency of public transportation, reducing operating costs and promoting the sustainable development of the public transportation system. This paper provides a theoretical support for bus operators to optimize route operations.

Abstract&Keyword Cite

Abstract :

In the context of aging, community has become the main activity place for the elderly, and their daily travel is closely related to their health. This paper aims to understand the overall travel and activity characteristics, health level of the elderly with different attributes in the old residential areas, the relationship between travel conditions and health level, the difficulties faced by daily travel and suggestions to improve the travel environment and health level of the elderly. Three old residential areas in Chaoyang District, Beijing were selected to investigate 15 elderly people on their daily travel, activities and health in the form of observation, questionnaire and interview. The survey results show that the daily travel modes of the elderly mainly include walking, cycling and public transportation. About 1 / 3 of the elderly need auxiliary tools. About 80% of the elderly suffer from diseases and 20% of the elderly have normal body mass index(BMI). The self-rated mental health (MSH) of the elderly is the best. The relationship between the average activity duration of the elderly and their health level under different travel conditions is mainly shown as follows: with the increase of travel time per trip, the outdoor activity duration of the elderly shows a trend of "first increase and then decrease", the number of diseases decreases, and the average BMI fluctuate. The next step is to expand the research scope and explore the travel and health status of the elderly in different community types, so as to provide basis for improving the travel environment and the health of the elderly.

A Real-Time Control Strategy for Bus Operation to Alleviate Bus Bunching SCIE SSCI
期刊论文 | 2022 , 14 (13) | SUSTAINABILITY
Abstract&Keyword Cite

Abstract :

In order to alleviate bus bunching and improve the balance and punctuality rate of bus operation, a single-line real-time control strategy based on Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) was proposed. The strategy took three measures: controlling the cruising speed, dwell time, and the bus load rate to improve the stability of bus operations and to ensure its running speed. At the same time, the proposed strategy was compared with the literature on the traditional single-point control strategy based on timetable (S1 for short) and the multi-point control strategy based on time headway (S2 for short). Finally, the No. 245 bus line in Nanchang City, China, was selected as a case. It was modeled and simulated by Python programming software, and the control effects of the three control strategies were analyzed. Compared with the uncontrolled bus operations, the simulation results show that: under the control of S1, the bus operation stability is improved, but the bus operation efficiency is reduced; under the control of S2, the problem of S1 operation efficiency reduction can be solved, and the operation stability can be improved at the same time to achieve the effect of preventing bunching. For the real-time control strategy (S3 for short), the average bus travel time is the smallest, the distance between the buses is maintained the best, and the running stability is also the best, which avoids the bus bunching to the greatest extent. Among them, the average travel time is reduced by about 34% compared with the second strategy. This study provides a theoretical basis and strategy reference for bus operators to ensure balanced bus operation.

Research on a Prediction Method for Passenger Waiting-Area Demand in High-Speed Railway Stations SCIE SSCI
期刊论文 | 2022 , 14 (3) | SUSTAINABILITY
Abstract&Keyword Cite

Abstract :

The rapid development of intelligent transportation systems and high-speed railways has shortened the waiting time of passengers and the demand for waiting areas. Large-scale stations not only increase the difficulty for passengers when traveling but also waste a great deal of land resources and construction funds. Therefore, this research analyzes passenger waiting area demand according to the characteristics of urban development, passenger travel characteristics and station departure passenger flow. This paper establishes a prediction model for the number of passengers spending time in the waiting room, taking into account passenger traffic and train departure timetables. We used Beijing South Railway Station, Xi'an North Railway Station, Hefei South Railway Station and Zhoukou East Railway Station as examples to predict the numbers of passengers spending time in waiting rooms of different types and scales of station. Research results show that shortening the length of passengers' early arrival times can effectively reduce the number of passengers gathered in medium-sized stations, which are located in new first-tier cities. Under the influence of the urban traffic environment and passenger flow, the uncertainties regarding travel time and passenger flow in first-tier cities are lower than those in new first-tier cities and higher than those in third-tier and fourth-tier cities. Therefore, the waiting area demand of passengers departing from medium-sized stations in new first-tier cities is lower than that of passengers from large stations in first-tier cities, and higher than that of passengers from small stations in third-tier and fourth-tier cities.

Abstract&Keyword Cite

Abstract :

To investigate citizens' participation behavior in the lottery under the influence of the license plate lottery policy (LPLP) and to guide them to participate in the lottery rationally, this paper, based on social psychology and combined with the theory of planned behavior, divides citizens into citizens with cars in their households and citizens without cars in their households. This study then separately constructs structural equation models, sets perceived car necessity (PCN), perceived behavioral control (PBC), attitude toward car ownership (ATT), and subjective norms (SN), respectively. These four psychological latent variables were used to analyze the participation behavior of different categories of citizens in the car lottery from the perspective of psychological factors. Our empirical study found that there are significant differences in age and the number of people living together. The mechanism of their intention to participate in the car lottery and the psychological factors are different. The psychological factors affecting the intention of people with a car and people without a car to participate in the car lottery are SN > ATT > PCN > PBC and ATT > SN > PBC, respectively. Our research results can help to identify the internal factors and mechanisms that influence citizens' intention to participate in the car lottery and help government administrators to optimize the LPLP.

Simulation Analysis of Bus Passenger Boarding and Alighting Behavior Based on Cellular Automata SCIE SSCI
期刊论文 | 2022 , 14 (4) | SUSTAINABILITY
Abstract&Keyword Cite

Abstract :

Bus passengers' boarding and alighting behavior is important content when researching bus operation efficiency. This paper uses an improved cellular automata (CA) model and introduces four dynamic parameters to study individual behavioral characteristics of bus passengers' boarding and alighting behavior. The research on the relationship between the macro pedestrian flow formed by the interaction between the individual passengers and the stop time of the bus station was realized. Then it was modeled for different situations, and the general update rules of CA were set based on realistic situations. The passenger boarding and alighting behaviors of the No. 245 bus route in Nanchang, China were simulated, and the simulation results of four different door layouts and passenger boarding and alighting modes were compared. It was found that when the passenger loading rate in the bus reaches 65%, the passenger boarding rate has an obvious tendency to slow down; the width of the door has a direct relationship with the passenger alighting efficiency, and the bus stopping time can be reduced by adjusting the width of the alighting door; a strategy which allows passengers board on the bus via the alighting door may effectively reduce the bus stopping time when there are many passengers boarding on the bus. Using strategy four, simulation research found that Bus No. 245 can reduce the stopping time by 40-50% in some station scenarios. Research results show that the CA model has certain practical value and can provide a theoretical reference for public transportation control and management.

Research on the combinatorial optimization of EBs departure interval and vehicle configuration based on uncertain bi-level programming SCIE SSCI
期刊论文 | 2022 , 15 (7) , 623-633 | TRANSPORTATION LETTERS-THE INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF TRANSPORTATION RESEARCH
Abstract&Keyword Cite

Abstract :

Based on uncertainty theory, this paper proposed a vehicle scheduling method considering the dynamic departure interval and vehicle configuration of electric buses (EBs). An uncertain bi-level programming model (UBPM) is established, which takes the total cost of passenger travel (CP) as the upper and total cost of EBs (CB) as the lower. A chance constrained programming model (CCPM) based on the randomness of passenger waiting time and the uncertainty of interstation running time is proposed as the upper model. With a certain confidence level of service level as constraints, the goal is to minimize the total cost of passenger travel. Then, an expected value model (EVM) based on the fluctuation of energy consumption is proposed as the lower model. Taking the number of EBs as the constraint condition, the goal was to minimize the energy consumption of EBs. Finally, a practical bus route is taken as an example to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method. The results demonstrated that the optimal scheduling plan considering the uncertain variables can reduce the passenger travel cost. Collaborative optimization of EBs vehicle configuration can reduce energy consumption, delay, and the number of EBs.

Private Parking Space Sharing Intention in China: An Empirical Study Based on the MIMIC Model SCIE
期刊论文 | 2021 , 2021 | DISCRETE DYNAMICS IN NATURE AND SOCIETY
Abstract&Keyword Cite

Abstract :

The shared parking scheme improves the utilization rate of existing parking resources and contributes to the sustainable development of cities, but many private parking spaces that are not included in the shared parking scheme have a low utilization rate in China. In order to better promote the shared parking scheme, it is necessary to study the intention of the owners of private parking spaces to share their parking spaces. Therefore, this paper used the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) and Benefit-Risk Analysis Model (BRA) as the combined theoretical framework (C-UTAUT-BRA). Hypothesis testing using the Multiple Indicators and Multiple Causes (MIMIC) model was performed using an empirical assessment of the shared parking scheme in China. The results show that (1) the sharing behavioral intention (BI) is directly affected by perceived benefit (PB), perceived risk (PR), social influence (SI), and facilitating condition (FC) and indirectly affected by effort expectancy (EE), of which the total effect of PB is the largest; (2) exogenous variables have an indirect effect on BI through other psychological latent variables; among them, different sociodemographic and economic characteristics have a significant influence on different latent variables, while the built environment has no significant effect on latent variables. This research contributes to theory building in shared parking participation intention and informs business and government leaders on how to promote the shared parking scheme through the action mechanism of influencing factors on BI.

Abstract :

The implementation of shared parking program can effectively increase the utilization rate of existing parking space resources. At present, shared parking program has not been widely practiced in China, and the prerequisite for this prospect to be implemented is whether the private parking space owner group can quickly and widely accept shared parking program. In this study, considering the differences in the economic development, urban planning, and parking pressure in cities of different levels, the theory of planned behavior and the benefit-risk perception model (C-TPB-BRA) are combined as the theoretical framework to explore the intention to share parking space from the perspective of the owners of private parking spaces in cities of different levels. Based on China's empirical data, structural equation models are built to verify the hypotheses proposed. Our results show that (a) the intention of private parking space owners in different levels of cities to participate in shared parking and the mechanism of action of the psychological factors are different, and not all psychological factors have a direct impact on the intention to share. In first-tier, second-tier, and third-tier cities, Subjective Norm (SN) and Perceived Behavioral Control (PBC) indirectly affect Behavior Intention (BI) through Attitude (ATT), Perceived Benefit (PB), and Perceived Risk (PR). In the fourth-tier cities, SN and PBC directly affect BI. Except for BI, other psychological factors influence each other significantly; (b) the psychological factors affecting the intention to supply shared parking spaces in first-tier, second-tier, third-tier, and fourth-tier cities, respectively, are PB > ATT > PR, PB > PR > ATT, PB > PR > ATT, and PB > SN > PBC > ATT > PR. Our research results could help determine the internal factors that affect the intention of parking space suppliers and their mechanisms of action to participate in shared parking, and on that basis, our findings could also help governments and platform operators to promote shared parking development plans.
