A Novel Three-Dimensional Star Structure with Stable Negative Poisson's Ratio SCIE
期刊论文 | 2024 , 262 (4) | PHYSICA STATUS SOLIDI B-BASIC SOLID STATE PHYSICS
Abstract&Keyword Cite

Abstract :

The concave star structure is a typical negative Poisson's ratio structure which reduces the volume of the structure through mechanical compression. Usually, the parameters of the structure such as wall thickness, bevel angle, and size affect the strength, stiffness, and energy absorption characteristics of the structure. This study designs a novel 3D star-shaped structure with a negative Poisson's ratio. Through finite element method simulation and mechanical experiments, the influence of relevant parameters on the strength, stiffness, and Poisson's ratio of the overall structure is explored, and the deformation mode, load-bearing capacity, and energy absorption capacity of the structure under quasistatic compression conditions are systematically studied, and structural parameters with good mechanical properties are finally obtained. The unit cell of the proposed structure has higher strength and specific energy absorption, and the proposed star-shaped structure shows a stable negative Poisson's ratio phenomenon after array combination compared with the traditional star-shaped structure. The structure designed in this research has both high strength and stiffness, as well as good buffering and high energy-absorbing potential, to prevent structural fracture under limited compression distance, which may have broad application prospects in the field of protective structures.

Abstract :

Integrated electro-mechanical actuators (EMAs) are widely used in cooperative robots. Their control system has to be carefully designed to achieve a desirable performance. The proportional-integral (PI) control and the active disturbance rejection control (ADRC) are the two commonly used controllers. Compared with the PI, the ADRC shows better performance in terms of disturbance rejection, response speed and overshooting suppression. However, the ADRC utilises numerous parameters and the optimisation of these parameters is a challenge. In this study, the influence of the parameters of beta(01), beta(02), beta(03), beta(1), beta(2) on the ADRC performance is deeply analysed. Considering the two non-linear factors of permanent magnet synchronous motor and harmonic transmission in the EMA, a simulation model of the EMA was established. An improved swarm optimisation algorithm was employed to optimise the parameters of the ADRC. A second-order ADRC in speed and position modes was designed. The parameters of the ADRC in these modes were adjusted using improved particle swarm optimisation. ADRC was applied to the EMA field-oriented control system instead of cascade PI, and the simulation and experimental results were compared using the cascade PI control method. When the target speed is to 15 rpm, the speed fluctuation range of the ADRC is about +/- 0.3 rpm, which is smaller than that of the PI controller's +/- 0.5 rpm. Compared with the cascade PI control, ADRC affords a faster response speed, greater robustness and stronger disturbance resistance in the steady-state operation process.

Abstract :

In order to improve the response speed and disturbance rejection ability of a permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) in an electromechanical actuator (EMA), a compound sliding mode control (CSMC) is proposed. The CSMC consists of a sliding mode controller with a new reaching law and disturbance observer based on a symmetric S-type function. The stability of the CSMC is analyzed using the Lyapunov stability analysis. The effectiveness of the CSMC is confirmed by the Simulink simulation, and experiments were conducted on a semi-physical platform. The results obtained by comparing the CSMC with the proportional integral (PI) control and traditional sliding mode control show that the CSMC has a faster response and stronger disturbance rejection ability and reduces chattering.

Abstract :

Pitting and micropitting are the two main gear rolling contact fatigue modes. It is widely accepted that micropitting will lead to pitting; however, the relationship between pitting and micropitting life needs further investigation. In this work, micropitting and pitting tests were performed on an FZG back-to-back test rig using standard FZG PT-C and GF-C gears. The gear tooth profile change due to micropitting and pitting damage was measured in situ in the gearbox using a profilometer after each test. The gear surface roughness parameters were calculated from the measured tooth profile. A Gaussian low pass filter with cut off length lambda c=0.8 mm was applied to the measured tooth profile to obtain the waviness. The calculated roughness parameters and the obtained tooth profile with waviness for each test were imported into the KISSsoft software to calculate the contact stress and specific film thickness at the corresponding load stage. Experimental results show that smooth gear surface can reduce or even avoid micropitting damage, but could lead to a reduction in pitting life.

Abstract :

According to the GFKT-C/8.3/90 FZG gear micropitting test procedure, the average value of gear tooth profile deviation is used as the failure criterion. Typically, gear tooth profile deviation is measured using a gear measuring machine. In order to do that during the FZG gear test, the gears tested have to be disassembled from, and assembled to the test rig. This process is tedious, time-consuming and is likely to add uncertainty to the testing results. An in situ gear tooth profile measurement method has been developed and applied in FZG gear micropitting tests. The tooth profile of the tested gear was measured in-situ in the gearbox before, during and after each load stage of the gear micropitting test. An algorithm was developed to fit the measured profile to its theoretical shape. Furthermore, a tooth profile change evaluation algorithm was developed for monitoring the evolution of the tooth profile during the duration of the test. The whole methodology was exemplified with a wrought gear test case run to pitting damage.

Abstract :

To verify the path planning in the laser tracking in-situ measuring process and to avoid fault operation, the simulation of the measuring process was realized. A 3D model of the measured gear was built based on the OpenGL graphics library. The models of the three-dimensional measuring platform and the laser tracker were built by using 3DSMAX and then they were imported into the simulation system. The touch detection between the probe and the measured gear was carried out using the Axis Aligned Bounding Box (AABB) method. The simulation system could communicate with the Renishaw's UCC2 controller, reading out the real-time coordinate value to update the status of the three-dimensional measuring platform model in the simulation system. Results show that the system ran stably, super-large gear measuring simulation and touch detection between the probe and the gear is realized.

Minimum circumscribed circle roundness assessment based on mechanical thinking EI CSCD PKU

Abstract :

The calculation of roundness deviation is mandatory for the quality inspection of rotational parts. How to evaluate roundness in coordinate metrology is a key problem in measurement. In this paper, a minimum circumscribed circle roundness evaluation method based on mechanical thinking is proposed. Firstly, the convex hull of the data set probed by a coordinate measuring machine is calculated to eliminate the data that would not contribute to the evaluation result. Then the circle enclosed all the data shrinks, as if a force system was acted, until it is in equilibrium. The problem of circle shrinking is solved by calculating the midperpendiculars and intersections of the line segments. A program was developed using VC++ 6.0 to verify the method. Two sets of data in the literature were used, and the evaluation results verify the correctness of the proposed method. The proposed mechanical method could also be used in other form error evaluations.

Inspection of spatial cams using coordinate measuring machine EI

Abstract :

Spatial cam is a type of cam mechanism with three-dimensional configuration in motion morphology. The cam profile curve was a groove curve generated around a cylinder which can rotate about its longitudinal axis, by which the roller follower was driven to move along the guided groove. Theoretical profile of a spatial cam can be considered as the trajectory surface left on the cylinder when the roller follower moved along the roller guide. In order to realize the designed precision motion, manufactured cams must be checked after production to assure quality. How to accurately measure a spatial cam still remains a puzzle for designers and manufacturers. This becomes critical, especially in the inspection of high precision cams. As the CMM was one of the most reliable and accurate metrological tool, a cam inspection method using a universal CMM was developed. In this research, a Brown & Sharp coordinate measure machine was used to check spatial cams. Firstly, according the required motion, the desired cam profile was mathematically determined by using the theory of envelopes for a one-parameter family of surfaces. Secondly, the cam coordinate system was related to the CMM coordinate system. Thirdly, the sampling strategy, that is the moving point matrix of the probe, was established. Fourthly, the manufacturing profile error of the cam was evaluated according to the data acquired. Software, which was able to communicate with the PC DMIS, was developed to assist this measuring task.
