Identification of building decarbonisation technologies based on SCAN algorithm SSCI

Abstract :

Buildings are one of the most significant sources of global carbon emissions, accounting for 28% in 2021, and building decarbonisation is crucial for countries to achieve the goal of carbon neutrality. Building decarbonisation technologies play a central role in promoting the process of deep decarbonisation in the building sector. Based on the 843,821 CPC-Y02B (Decarbonisation technologies associated with buildings) patents in the CPC-Y02 patent classification system, this paper investigated the patent of building decarbonisation technology from three dimensions of technical, economic, and legal aspects and selected 10,751 high-quality core patents in the field of building decarbonisation technologies. Then, the SCAN algorithm was used to identify 23 'key core technologies' and 5 'emerging technologies' in the area of building decarbonisation from the constructed patent (CPC classification number) co-occurrence network. In addition, the development trends of building decarbonisation technologies were analyzed with related literature. This paper introduced the theories and methods of technology identification into the research field of building decarbonisation technology, and the results can give practical references for associated practitioners in the building sector. Future research could consider the technology identification from the whole life cycle of buildings or incorporate multivariate data to improve the current technology identification framework.

Abstract :

This paper aims to summarize the publishing trends, current status, research topics, and frontier evolution trends of health technology between 1990 and 2020 through various bibliometric analysis methods. In total, 6663 articles retrieved from the Web of Science core database were analyzed by Vosviewer and CiteSpace software. This paper found that: (1) The number of publications in the field of health technology increased exponentially; (2) there is no stable core group of authors in this research field, and the influence of the publishing institutions and journals in China is insufficient compared with those in Europe and the United States; (3) there are 21 core research topics in the field of health technology research, and these research topics can be divided into four classes: hot spots, potential hot spots, margin topics, and mature topics. C21 (COVID-19 prevention) and C10 (digital health technology) are currently two emerging research topics. (4) The number of research frontiers has increased in the past five years (2016-2020), and the research directions have become more diverse; rehabilitation, pregnancy, e-health, m-health, machine learning, and patient engagement are the six latest research frontiers.

Forecasting and evaluating emerging technologies based on supply and demand matching - a case study of China's gerontechnology SSCI

While numerous studies have examined the importance of technology innovation in supporting the aging society, few have been specifically conducted on the emerging technologies that forecast for the elderly. Moreover, existing related research lacks consideration of public users' demands, and the forecasting results have not been linked with the actual technology supply in the market, which may easily lead to waste of resources and deviation of R&D focus. Given that, we present a novel method to forecast and evaluate emerging technologies based on technology supply and demand (S&D) matching. In the case study of China's gerontechnology, we first systematically excavate the elderly's demands and match them with the emerging gerontechnologies. Then, we analyse technology supply to filter out S&D oversaturated technologies and screen out S&D undersaturated results by the text semantic mining and similarity matching. Among the results, 27.68% do not have an effective supply yet, 33.04% have saturated or oversaturated. Besides, we use the TRIZ theory to filtrate key emerging areas and find the evolution path, and six significant evolutionary trends are extracted. This paper will help decision makers to accurately target the most promising emerging technologies.

Abstract :

The mutual influence and complementarity of technologies between different industries are becoming increasingly prominent. Revealing the topic evolution of technology linkages between industries is the foundation for understanding the technological development trend of the industry. Although numerous works have focused on technology topic mining and its evolution characteristics, these works have not accurately represented the interindustry technology linkage, analyze the related topics and even ignored the technological development characteristics hidden in the topic evolution pathway. Since the Lingo algorithm fully considers the time-series characteristics of the topics, and the knowledge evolution theory can reveal three inherent characteristics in the evolution of knowledge topics, namely, "stability, heredity, and variability," this article aims to combine the Lingo algorithm and the knowledge evolution theory to analyze the topic evolution of interindustry technology linkages. Additionally, because three-dimensional (3-D) printing technology has significant interdisciplinary and cross-industry characteristics, a wide range of application fields, and various interindustry technology linkages, 3-D printing technology is used for empirical analysis. The empirical results show that the key topics of interindustry technology linkages in 3-D printing include model design, manufacturing methods, manufacturing equipment, manufacturing material, and application. In addition, all these topics have the development feature of heredity. However, the topic of manufacturing materials presents significant variability, the topic of manufacturing methods has the strongest stability, and multiple subtopics of the five topics show variability and genetic intersection.
