Abstract:

Active carbon (AC) supported copper (Cu/AC) catalysts were prepared with impregnation method and tested by catalytic wet peroxide oxidation(CWPO) of leachate from a refuse transfer station. COD removal rate was used to evaluate the catalytic activity and stability in this paper. The influence of calcination temperature, calcination time and impregnation concentration on catalytic activity were studied with experiments. The catalyst was characterized by XRD and BET. The results showed that under the optimal conditions: calcination temperature of 400℃, calcination time of 2 h and impregnation concentration of 0.4 mol·L -1 , the COD removal rate could reach 89.9%. UV-vis spectra and three dimensional fluorescence spectra (3DEEM) analysis showed that refractory organics in leachate can be removed effectively by CWPO with the prepared AC/Cu catalyst. The results of repeated use of the catalyst showed that the prepared catalyst has good stability. © 2017, Science Press. All right reserved.
