Abstract:
Ca3CO4O9 ceramics were prepared by sol-gel method and spark plasma sintering (SPS) technique. The influence of SPS on the phase, microstructure and electrical properties of the ceramics were investigated by XRD, SEM, etc. The results show that plate-like powders and SPS process are important to form texture. The possible reasons of orientation are the plate-like grain and pulsed magnetic field derived from pulsed current in the SPS process. In our experimental range, the orientation degree of Ca3CO4O9 bulk increases from 0.75 to 0.87, and electrical resistivity decreases from 6.24 X 10(-5) Omega m to 5.59 X 10(-5) Omega m, when the SPS temperature is from 750 degrees C to 900 degrees C. In addition, Ca3CO4O9 bulk shows classical electrical characteristic of semiconductor, i.e. the electrical conductivity of samples increases with temperature increasing. The maximum electrical conductivity is obtained at 700 degrees C for P-type Ca3CO4O9 compounds when the SPS temperature is 850 degrees C.
