Abstract:
In this study, tungsten-rhenium (Re-W) dispenser cathodes are fabricated by cold-pressing and sintering of Re-W powder which was prepared by spray drying method followed by two-step hydrogen reduction. Emission performance of the cathodes was tested on a planar diode configuration. The elements distribution of rhenium and tungsten on the surface of 75at% Re-W cathode were also investigated by EPMA. Among the cathodes fabricated in different compositions, the 75at% Re-W cathode demonstrates the highest zero field emission current density of 14.03 A.cm(-2) at 1000 degrees C.
