Abstract:

This paper aims at seeking the weak positions of a flexible steel frame structure used for industrial purpose and enhancing its seismic capacity by taking measures. First, the weak positions of the steel frame structure were analyzed. Then, the validity of the proposed measures was verified through numerical simulation. The seismic response of the retrofitted structure was compared with that of the original one in simulation duration. The results obtained in this study show that the supplementary lateral bracings can improve the seismic performance of the initial structure significantly.
