Abstract:
Electrocatalytic activity of palladium-nickel/polymeric pyrrole film modified titanium (Pd-Ni/PPy/Ti) electrode for the electrochemically reductive dechlorination of chloroform was carried out in aqueous solution. The prepared Pd-Ni/PPy/Ti electrode was characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), cyclic voltammetry (CV) and atomic emission spectrometry (AES). Pd-Ni microparticles were uniformly dispersed on a polypyrrole (PPy) film which was previously electrodeposited on the titanium (Ti) netting supporting electrode. Electrocatalytic reduction of chloroform was performed in a two-compartment cell separated by cation-exchange membrane. It is found that the removal efficiency of chloroform and current efficiency on Pd-Ni/PPy/Ti electrode could be up to 52.10% and 46.74% at dechlorination current of 0.1 mA and dechlorination time of 180 min.
