Abstract:

In order to make best use of wind energy resource to achieve the building natural ventilation, this paper develops a new type of natural ventilation device - automatic wind catcher based on the basic wind pressure principle. The wind catcher can catch the wind direction automatically and induct the outdoor fresh air into the room organically. This paper will study the outside and inside flow field distribution of the wind catcher through the numerical simulation method. The air flow rate can be get from both simulation and experiment and the results will be compared. According this the performance of the wind catcher can be preliminary evaluation and the further way of optimization can be bring forward. It also supplies the preliminary basis of engineering application and the design of the building natural ventilation.
