Abstract:
Mechanical properties of composite T300-AG80 were tested under laser irradiation at room temperature. The longitudinal and latitudinal effective elastic modulus and the tension-compression failure stresses of the composite were obtained. Laser parameters effects on mechanical properties of the composite were analyzed. The wavelength of continuous wave laser Nd:YAG is 1064nm in the test. Under different tension - compression loading, ablation failure mechanism and the trend of mechanical properties influenced by different intensity laser were analyzed. At the same time, the experimental process of ablation was observed by high speed camera and the failure time of the specimen was got through it. The result shown that the orientation of carbon fiber affects mechanical properties and laser ablation-resistance remarkably. Effective elastic modulus, tension - compression failure stresses of longitudinal are89GPa, 940MPa and 507MPa respectively. Longitudinal specimen properties are 56.3%, 70.6% and 20.7% respectively more than that of the latitudinal. The time of longitudinal specimen laser ablation-resistance is distinctly better than that of latitudinal specimen under laser irradiation and tension loading. The failure time of longitudinal and latitudinal specimen under compression loading is much shorter than that of it under tension loading.
