Abstract:

Cached materialized view can provide a lot of performance benefits, but the materialized view is not consistent with the data source any more when updates happen in data source. Extensive studies on incremental maintenance of materialized views have proved that maintaining materialized views incrementally can optimize the query and bring better performance than that of view recomputation. This paper proposes an approach to implement incremental maintenance of materialized SVG view based on the theory of incremental computation. An incremental maintenance program consists of view update instructions that can be generated by a Web-based geographic information query engine with incremental maintenance capability. This program can be executed on the cached SVG view to obtain a consistent materialized SVG view. XPath is used as the view specification language for SVG view at client side. The main points of this paper are: (1) an algorithm SVG-IMA that can generate SVG view update instruction according to a materialized SVG view specification and an update in spatial data source; (2) a SVG materialized view consistency maintenance system framework in a web environment according to a remote spatial. data source. Experiments have shown that this approach outperforms view recomputation.
