Abstract:
Hollow-core microstructured fiber(HC-ARF)plays as an ideal platform for lab-on-a-fiber applications such as nonlinear frequency conversion,gas/liquid detection, high power laser compression, etc. It helps to enhance the interaction between laser and matter.Compared to conventional photonic bandgap hollow-core crystal fiber(HC-PBGF),HC-ARF provides a broader transmission bandwidth,a higher damage threshold and even lower transmission attenuation at some wavelength. In recent years, several types of HC-ARF have been reported, all with node structures. This means a very high bending loss, which is a critical limitation for the application of HC-ARF.Nodeless HC-ARF has the advantages of simple structure, low transmission loss and more importantly, low bending loss. Here,we report a first high performance nodeless HC-ARF with six capillaries in the core surround. The fiber has a outter diameter of 175μ m,a core size of 46μ m and a pitch of 26um.It has a smooth transmission band between 1200nm and 1900nm and exhibits single mode guidance. The bending loss measurement results shows a record of 0.3dB/m at a bending radius of 5cm at 1550nm.This beats the state-of-art HC-ARF of this type.
