Abstract:

The traditional algorithms for location determination of partial discharge source are based on measuring a specified parameter such as angle of arrival (AOA) or time of arrival (TOA). And then, the measured parameters are used to estimate the source location. Since the AOA/TOA are measured at each station separately, without the constraint that all parameters must correspond to the same source, the traditional algorithms are suboptimal. We propose a single step algorithm that estimate location based on least squares. The new algorithm requires only a two-dimensional grid search. Experiments in the laboratory show that the accuracy of the proposed algorithm is acceptable.
